Three Varieties of Rhizomatous Beardless Irises, from Hortus Eystettensis — the landmark botanical masterpiece compiled by Basilius Besler and first published in 1613. This edition is based on the rare 1713 centenary edition which employed a similarly thick, slightly grainy paper stock.

The original 17th Century engravings are celebrated botanical illustrations, revered for their extraordinary precision and vivid colour and were printed on the largest paper available to printmakers at the time. Often life sized images of over 500 different flowers and plants, this later edition is similar in scale to the original and pacts the same punch in terms of depth and detail.

Printed on high grain mottled watercolour paper, bordered with hand-marbled paper, and beautifully mounted.
