Pierre Bonnard was a founding member of the Post-Impressionist group of avant-garde painters Les Nabis. He is known for his intimate domestic scenes and nudes, often of his wife Marthe de Méligny and his bold use of colour. He was strongly influenced by the work of Paul Gauguin, as well as Japanese woodblock prints.
This drypoint and etching depicts two nude women in a rural setting, possibly sunbathing. The work is in good condition but there is a slight tear outside of the plate in the top left of the paper. The print is unframed.
