Murray Fieldhouse was an influential figure in post-war British studio pottery, known both for his refined functional ceramics and for shaping the field through Pottery Quarterly, the pioneering magazine he founded in 1954. Fieldhouse trained under Harry Davis and eventually setup his own studio in Tring, Hertfordshire. He combined craftsmanship with education, community leadership, and advocacy for potters. As a founding member and long-serving president of the Dacorum and Chiltern Potters Guild, he helped nurture generations of makers. His work is represented in collections such as the V&A and appeals to collectors for its quality, heritage, and its strong connection to the golden age of British studio pottery.
